Finally! A new post.

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 12:57 AM
First off. I apologize for my lack of reporting back on the Long beach Comic Con.

Now on to the Con. It was FANTASTIC! I wish all of you who couldn't make it were there. It was manageable, personable, everyone was in a good mood, AND it didn't smell so bad.

I got to meet RA Height. His table was next to mine and we hit it off right away. I probably talked his ear off but he was very accomadating to my chattiness. He is a great penciler and I can't wait ot ink a pinup with him. He was also sketching like a madman. He must have done fifty sketches that weekend and they were all awesome.

I also got to meet inker Larry Welch who is a fantastic guy. We also hit it off great and spoke for like an hour before I had to go do a signing. Larry and I have a lot in common as far as our training in inking. We both first learned about inking in the late 80s from Karl Story and King Brian Stelfreeze(though I was only fifteen and not ready to get a gig), and we both asssisted Joe Weems and John Livesay at various times.
My big ego moment came when he knew who I was. No one ever knows who I am!

I didn't get to meet some of the folks I wanted to like Sandra Hope and Scott Williams. I did have a blast hanging at signings with Nelson Blake II, Michael Broussard, Rob Levin, and the rest of my old Top Cow crew.

I highly recommend going next year for all you locals. If you don't support small cons like this then they go away so I hope to see all of you there next year.

I will be posting sketches I did later this week.

  • Mood: Love

I'm now inking WildCATs for Wildstorm. Written by Adam Beechen, pencils by Hack Slash's Tim Seeley, and colors by Carlos "realCabz" Badilla! Edited by THE legendary Scott Peterson. It's all about kicking ass!

Our run starts with issue 19 in January. So if you're not already reading it, C'MON!

Devious Info

  • Current Residence: Orange County, CA
  • Tools of the Trade: pencil, nib & brush
